Dogg Pound rapper/producer Daz is without a doubt flexing his independent muscle. With the release of four projects in October, Got Love In The Street, The Last of The Pound:The DPG Album, Who Ride Wit Us Vol2 and the DVD, Gangsta Shi*, he explained to The Source Magazine Radio Network, “I make my own CD cover, do everything the record company does…I just keep dropping every month.”
He also added that Gangsta Shi* has already sold 25,000 copies. “[It’s] about me and Kurupt…and Suge Knight. It also got all our videos on there…It’s like a mix-CD but it’s videos.”
Despite his independent success Daz is still looking for a record deal. “I got another album right now called The Black Phantom...I’m trying to take that around and shop it....”
Daz also announced the recent formation of his distribution label, Gangsta Advisory, and his membership in the rock group Mean Peace, whose first album will drop in December.
