They say real bad boys move in silence.  Aasim is no exception to this rule.  Already making waves through out New York’s underground circuit, Aasim has been quietly positioning himself to become a leader of rap’s new generation.  And it’s about to pay off.

A product of Southside Jamaica, Queens, Aasim was poised to be among the hip-hop ruling class when he picked up a microphone at age 12.  Influenced by Queens’ luminaries such as LL Cool J & Nas, as well as the late greats, Notorious B.I.G. and 2Pac, Aasim’s style of rhyme is as complete as it comes in this day and age.  Explicit with his words, yet aggressive in delivery, Aasim can get raw with the grittiest rappers in the streets, yet prolific enough to garner the respect of the hip-hop intellectual man.

While new to many, Aasim is no stranger to the rap game.  He garnered a reputation as a prodigy when at the age of 17 he signed to Loud Records as part of the labels second wave of new school acts that included Dead Prez and the late Big PUN.  Too young to even enter a club, Aasim honed his skills by watching the late Big Pun record his classic debut, Capitol Punishment.  It was during those sessions that Aasim learned the ins and outs of song structure.

But right as Aasim prepared for his inevitable debut, he was entangled in a legal bind that prevented his career from advancing.  Discouraged and worn out by the situation, he began to feel sour towards the game.  Eventually Aasim disappeared from the rap circuit.

Making Matters worse, his home of Loud Records closed for good.  Yet Aasim stayed in touch with former A&R Sean C and production partner LV (Fat Joe, Terror Squad).  Together the 3 started working on new songs developing his song writing and production talent.  He reemerged again this past year, bolder, wiser, words all the more sharper.  With his manager Young Sav in tow, Aasim began to align himself with Sean C and LV’s Grind Music Inc and rapidly began to make up for lost time by providing opening drops for Fat Man Scoop on New York’s Hot 97.  He also made appearances on radio shows for DJ’s Clue and K-Slay as well as unleashed memorable freestyles on mix-tapes for heavyweight mix DJ’s such as Green Lantern, Big Mike and Absolut.

His perseverance paid off this year when Aasim was chosen by Puff Daddy to lead the next generation of Bad Boy.  “This is the start of a new era; a new beginning.  Aasim is the lead-off man,” Boasts Puff Daddy on Aasim’s new street single, “Welcome to Bad Boy”.  Aasim is currently hard at work recording his debut album due to be released in late 2007 on Bad Boy Records.  This self-produced debut will also feature the production talents of Nottz (Dr. Dre, Busta Rhymes), Grind Music (Fat Joe, Big Pun, Jay-Z), Buckwild (B.I.G., Black Rob) as well as Puff Daddy’s notorious Hit-Men.  Look for Aasim to change the game in 2007.
