Reaching a mass audience beyond the internet has never been easier for unsigned and independent artists, thanks to XM Satellite Radio. SHINE, the countries most popular radio show established exclusively for the hotbed of artists who have yet to garner major label deals, will reach more than 20 million listeners. Through XM Satellites affiliations with Direct TV and AOL reaching new fans and maintaining old ones couldn’t be simpler.
SHINE will air on Channel 66 RAW on Thursday at 9am EST and on Friday at 12am EST. Due to the reduced censorship on Satellite radio, artists will not be limited to expressing their creativity. The show will premier on July 6th 2006 and will be hosted by DJ Furious Styles.
DJ Furious Styles has an extensive background in Hip-Hop and will bring a cutting edge feel to his new venture on XM Satellite. Born in Brooklyn and college educated in Washington DC, DJ Furious Styles created the infamous Sunday Night Mixtape show at the American University in DC which was the university’s most popular Hip-Hop show during 1996-2000.
“I wanted to do an unsigned radio show to provide a place where the artist wouldn’t have to feel the pressure of radio politics. These artist have an extremely hard time getting air play on a local level, but now the have the opportunity to get played on a national level,” DJ Furious Styles explained when it came to the concept for the show.
The break down of listeners that SHINE has the capacity of reaching is as follows, XM- 6.5 Million, Direct TV, CHANNEL 846- 14 million and the AOL XM RADIO Partnership- 5 Million.
