The gunman, Mario Etheridge, who pulled the trigger which killed D12 rapper Proof will not be facing murder charges for the shooting which took place last month at a Detroit nightclub. The night ended with two people shot and killed.
Early Tuesday morning (May 30th) Kym Worthy, Wayne County Prosecutor, made the official announcement that Mr. Etheridge would not be facing the alleged murder charges. She said he was found to be acting in self-defense by shooting the rapper.
Witnesses claimed that Proof had first shot and fatally wounded Etheridge's cousin, Keith Bender Jr., outside the club "C.C.C.." Mario Etheridge then immediately shot Proof in self-defense of his cousin.
Mario Etheridge in April was charged with carrying a concealed weapon without the necessary permits. He was also charged for firing two gunshots inside the club.
As a result of being open and serving liquor beyond what the state's liquor control law says, the C.C.C. nightclub has been ordered to shut down for a year.
