On Monday (May 1), the New York Police Department announced that they intend to install a surveillance camera outside of the 395 Hudson Street building, which is home to New York City’s Hot 97, a radio station that has been the site of several violent shootings.
On Tuesday (May 2), a Hot 97 spokesman responded to the NYPD’s contingency plan to prevent further violence outside its building, which included last week's shooting of Brooklyn MC Gravy.
“If the NYPD believes that installing a camera outside the building will ensure a more secure environment, then we are all for it,” the station’s spokesman told the New York Daily News.
Installing the camera outside Hot 97 is part of NYC’s $9 million plan to install 500 cameras in high-crime areas throughout the city.
Meanwhile the building’s owner, the District Council of Carpenters, is scheduled to file papers to begin the eviction process for Hot 97 today.
Hot 97 has been a tenant in the building since 1996 and its lease runs till 2012.
