With plans to recruit over 1,500 employees to meet the demands posed by a busy summer season, Universal Studios has partnered with Los Angeles Unified School District's First Break program, the Youth Opportunity Movement and City of Los Angeles' Employment Development Department to reach out to Southern California's young people and offer a "first break" and an opportunity to gain valuable work experience and training while enjoying the theme park's many employee benefits.

The LAUSD's First Break program will reach students from 55 high schools with employment opportunities that make a positive first connection with private industry. In return, students experience the rewards of employment and learn the responsibilities of contributing to the workforce. Through its partnership with First Break, Universal Studios will offer these young people with the first employment experience at a well renowned company.

Larry Kurzweil, president and COO, Universal Studios Hollywood, said: "Our recruitment efforts go way beyond just offering jobs. At Universal Studios Hollywood, local youth will gain important skills that can be taken into their future careers as well as the opportunity to be part of a world class workforce. Our employees have access to many exclusive benefits and we pride ourselves in offering a fun work environment while offering our guests a world-class entertainment experience."

Universal Studios Hollywood is one of the largest employers of Los Angeles' youth between the ages of 16 and 24, who are looking for employment opportunities during their breaks from school or as a way to begin their careers.
