The goal of Indiana University's Hip Hop Congress 6th Annual Hip Hop Awareness Festival is to show the true spirit of hip hop culture, a culture that was born out of the worst living conditions in American history as a means of expression to substitute violence. For six years, our festival has been growing and bringing together more people in a peaceful, enlightening, energetic, educational and non-violent manner.
Hip Hop Congress (HHC) is an International Grassroots Network that educates, empowers, and unites individuals. We preserve and evolve Hip Hop by inspiring social action and cultural creativity within the community.
Festival Objective: The goal of the 6th Annual Hip Hop Awareness Festival is to show the true spirit of hip hop culture, a culture that was born out of the worst living conditions in American history as a means of expression to substitute violence. For six years, our festival has been growing and bringing together more people in a peaceful, enlightening, energetic, educational and non-violent manner.
The Awareness Festival is the premier annual hip hop event in Indiana. The Festival has two primary objectives. First, to offer the community quality, hip hop programming. Second, to put IU and the surrounding Bloomington community on the map as a leader in the preservation and advancement of hip hop culture. In previous years attendance has spanned coast to coast, from San Jose, CA to Atlanta, GA.
All but one event comprising the festival are free and open to all ages so that the highest quantity of people can enjoy and benefit from them.
