MTV announced a new deal with turntable artisan and on-air radio personality Cipha Sounds.  Cipha Sounds’ projects will include hosting MTV’s premiere hip hop and R&B video countdown show Direct Effect as well as various projects for MTV, MTV Overdrive and MTV Wireless. 

“Cipha Sounds is a dynamic talent across the board,” says Tony DiBari, Sr. VP of MTV Production, “His credibility coupled with our brand of innovative multiplatform music programming sets the stage for the next phase of MTV.”

“When I consider everything I’ve done in my career so far I’d have to say this ranks as one of my highest accomplishments, Cipha notes, “I’m excited and ready to bring more of the hotness to MTV.”

In a word, Cipha is an originator - disc jockey, host, entrepreneur and music executive.  His aptitude in the music industry is both impressive and enviable.  Cipha Sounds debuts as MTV’s newest VJ amid a week long celebration of hip hop during “Sucker Free Week”, April 10th – 14th.   MTV television, online, broadband and wireless fans alike can tune-in, log-on or dial-in to experience some of the entertainment industry’s hottest personalities during this week long hip hop and R&B music focus.

Avid listeners of New York’s Hot 97 have already experienced Cipha’s ability to rock the turntables on his Cipha Saturdays show.  An even wider audience continues to discover him on his Cipha Sounds Effect morning show on Sirius Satellite Radio’s Shade 45 channel weekday mornings.  As Senior Vice President of Jay Z’s World music label, Roc La Familia, Cipha has already begun to position himself as a trailblazer in the world of Hip-Hop, Reggae, R&B, and Reggaeton music.
