A spokesperson for Eminem's label, Interscope Records, confirmed Wednesday (April 5) that the Detroit rapper has filed papers with the Macomb County, Michigan, clerk's office and will seek a divorce from Kim Mathers, his high school sweetheart and the mother of his 10-year-old daughter, Hailie Jade Scott Mathers.
Eminem (real name: Marshall Bruce Mathers III) and Kim Mathers remarried in a ceremony held on January 14. The nuptials were exchanged only a month after the couple announced they'd reconciled.
The Mathers were first married back on June 14, 1999, but the marriage dissolved in October 2001 amid a bitter legal fight, largely over the custody of their child.
Em and Kim both grew up in the Eight Mile neighborhood in northern Detroit, and began dating while in high school.
