Corey Miller, the jailed rapper formerly known as C-Murder whose second-degree murder conviction was reinstated last year, has filed a request with the Louisiana Supreme Court for new trial.
Defense attorneys Robert Glass and Ron Rakosky asked the state's high court to overturn the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal's decision last year to reinstate Miller's conviction in the death of 16-year-old Steve Thomas. The verdict carries a mandatory life sentence in prison.
After a three-week trial in October 2003, Miller was convicted of killing Thomas during a fight January 12th, 2002, at the now-closed Platinum Club in Harvey.
Even if the supreme court sides with the Fifth Circuit, allowing Miller's conviction to stand, the rapper's attorneys still could appeal the conviction itself.
