Leading the way are southerners Three 6 Mafia with their nomination for an Original Song Oscar for It’s Hard Out Here For A Pimp, the crunked-out title track from Craig Brewer’s written and directed Hustle & Flow.
The film which is also nominated for Best Performance (Terrance Howard) shows the journey of a Memphis pimp just trying to make it in the pimp game and the in the world of rap. Three 6 Mafia’s DJ Paul told sources "We [are] just happy as hell… We knew they said it might be nominated, but we didn't think it would be. It's good to find out it's true."
In related news Ludacris (also in Hustle and Flow) is up for an Oscar for his performance in Crash which is up for Best Picture. We’ll find out on Sunday March 5th if either of the aforementioned sneaks an Academy Award.
