The rapper known as Cassidy has been convicted of involuntary manslaughter and aggravated assault in what prosecutors are calling the planned ambush of a man he'd argued with.
A Philadelphia judge says the rapper, whose real name is Barry Reese, was grossly negligent for supplying the guns that killed Desmond Hawkins and wounded two of his companions.
Judge Jane Cutler Greenspan sentenced Cassidy to up to 23 months in prison. However, the rapper has been in custody since his June arrest and, as a result, could be out of jail in a few months.
Prosecutors say Cassidy and his associates had stashed four guns, including an assault rifle, in an alley behind the rapper's house in expectation of a shootout.
