After serving only 70-days for a parole violation, hip hop rapper DMX is now a free man being released for good behavior.
He was being held at Rikers Island and was released on December 30th. DMX had also accrued credit for spending time previously.
Born with his given name Earl Simmons, DMX, was given a prison sentence in November of '05 after he entered a plea of guilty for violating his parole terms.
Bred as a Yonkers MC, DMX has left Def Jam and has entered a new deal with Sony Music. He was on parole for an incident in '04 where he was convicted of chasing a man in the New York JFK Airport parking lot with his SUV equipped with flashing lights.
Police arrived shortly after being reported and noted that DMX was found at the scene with his pants down to his knees still attempting to assault the man he was chasing. DMX was reportedly incoherent when communicating with police officials.
April 2005 brought another police incident for the NY rapper where he had collision with another vehicle which led to the damage to a police car on the Major Deegan Expressway in the Bronx area.
Police were told by DMX that he was speeding that day because his wife was in labor with his child. Three days after the incident, his wife gave birth.
