UK Advertising Standards Authority has a problem with a recent ad posted depicting a rapper holding a gun in one had, and a baby in the other.
About 17 separate complaints have been filed with the UK's ASA from viewers who thought the content of the ad was offensive. The watchdog group shortly after ruled that the advertisement was in violation and had all instances of the ad removed.
They stated the ad violated the violence and decency rules set by the establishment. This violation posses a risk to children due to the image depicted.
“We also considered the combination of the title `Get Rich or Die Tryin', and the image of Curtis `50 Cent' Jackson carrying a gun could give the impression that success could be achieved through violence," the ASA ruled.
In an official statement from Universal Music Group, the advertisement was created to portray the struggle experienced by 50 Cent on the well known streets of Queens, New York. They also noted that the specific posters were no longer in use.
