Rap artist Gucci Mane received some very good news in time for the New Years. On Friday (December 30), prosecutors dropped murder charges against the rapper, citing lack of evidence in the murder of another rapper. Gucci Mane, whose real name is Radric Davis, had been accused of the May 10 shooting of Henry "Pookie Loc" Clark III, a rapper from Macon, Georgia. According to Mane, he had acted in self-defense, when Clark and four other men attacked him. Mane has been incarcerated since October of 2005 for assaulting promoter Troy Buffor with a pool cue, a charge the rapper had pled no contest to. The rapper was sentenced to six months in jail and will be probation for 6 1/2 years. Mane agreed to pay Buffor's medical bills equaling $3,000, and is expected to be released in January. The Georgia rapper has received massive media attention all year. The day he turned himself in on murder charges and posted $100,000 bond, the rapper's debut album, Trap House, hit stores.
