First of all I want to thank those loyal visitors who visit constantly and keep the site in mind when looking for rap updates. Some important changes have been made to the site as a whole, and this news post will explain what has changed and why.
We have an all new Related box section (right) reserved for links out to related sites based on the story or news content. For example, the related links shows a link to the all new Rap News Community which is a replacement of the previous forums. The related content includes references to story topics to help categorize the news content as a whole. Each topic has its own page which contains links to only those articles which are related to the specific topic. This categorization also allows the alerts to be sent based on what topics the story is related to. For example, if you sign up for alerts with the custom topic "Rap" you will receive all alerts related to rap. If a story happens to not be rap related, you will not receive the alert.
Even though you may have signed up for alerts previously, we have developed an all new alert system and those who already signed up for alerts have been migrated over to the new system. We believe alerts will better keep you the visitor in touch with what's going on, on a regular basis. You have customization options with Rap News Alerts such as you can choose custom story topics or your favorite artists so you only get the news and content you are truly interested in. You have the option to receive alerts immediately after being published or once per day (1:30p PST). Setup alerts...
New site interface utilizes much more of your computer screens space unlike the previous design. The old design had been designed to fit in even the smallest screen sizes but with all the space gone to waste, its not worth it any longer.
The new Rap News Community mentioned previously also contains other community based features such as a Blog which allows me to post quick news updates without having a full news story to publish on this main site. I can offer free promotion to artists I believe deserve it, without taking up too much time writing a full press release. Check my blog to find out more about the updates to the site and what you can expect to happen in the near future with the site and its services.
Forums are a great way for visitors to interact with each other as well as the site owners. The old forums we were using were not very flexible for the purposes we were using it for, so we found an all new solution known as Community Server. If you were an existing user on the forums.rapnews.net site, you will now need to re-join the all new Rap News Community since the user database is completely separate. The forums feature new tools and offers extensive options. We will be running weekly polls on various rap subjects to keep the flow of feedback coming from you, our visitors.
Advertisements on the site can be removed for certain user accounts. We have an existing system of Premium Accounts which receive all the site content, without ads, but we wanted to offer an elite group of visitors the opportunity to experience the speed of the site without any delays from ads. We will announce more regarding this offer very soon. Stay tuned.
