The publishing company of Eminem has filed a lawsuit against ring tone sellers in an effort to stop his songs from being used illegally.
in the recent suit filed Tuesday in US District Court in Detroit, Michigan-based 8 mile style and Martin affiliated are seeking a court order to stop five companies from selling Eminem's song ring tones online.
lawyers for the rap artist Eminem also say they plan to sue karaoke companies which offer Eminem songs without getting the proper licenses required to use such copyrighted material.
"This is a big business. We're talking hundreds of thousands of dollars a year," said Howard Hertz, a lawyer representing the plaintiffs.
The following companies have been named in the suit, Colorado-based Cellus USA, Georgia-based FanMobile, New York-based Nextones.com, New Jersey-based MyPhoneFiles and New Jersey-based MatrixM LLC.
