People who know their way around often have alternative, savvy avenues which they utilize to help them reach their destination faster than others who take the traditional road. That thinking can be applied no matter what your goal is, particularly with business. Thus with a name like “Back Route”, be well aware to expect the unexpected as you watch this team fly past creative competitors to make its place in rap history. Founded by James Rosado and based near Stockton, California; Back Route is preparing to take the fall by storm with its first two artists signed to the roster. Already beginning rotation at the Central Valley’s well-respected KWIN (97.7 and 98.3) radio station just last week, Back Route caught the ears and eyes of the station’s key personality Al Greenz, who was quick to jump on both label artists’ Okwerdz (pronounced, “awkwards) and Young Collage’s first singles, “Do You Wanna Fight”/”Like It Or Not” and “Better Way”/“Get Wit It”, respectively. In particularly supportive timing, the spins will cast a spotlight on Okwerdz, a previous Rock Steady MC Battle finalist and regular Scribble Jam performer/judge, who is preparing his debut release scheduled to hit stores October 15th. Entitled “Random Acts of Music”, the album is an eclectic mix of tracks which prove the artist has an unmatched skill as both a recording artist and freestylist. Okwerdz, who collaborated on this album with such talent as Tech N9ne, Chino XL and Mac Lethal, will be releasing a tour schedule shortly. Young Collage, whose debut release is entitled “Take It, or Leave It” is tentatively scheduled for early 2006 and is as full of beats as Santa’s sleigh is gifts. The versatile artist and producer has teamed up with artists from the legendary Too Short to Devin The Dude on several tracks however the first single “Get Wit It” features Goldie of Federation and Dirty Mackin. The album also features various tracks from the well-respected Underdue Brothers (Hallway Productions) whose credits include the recent Ice Cube cut "Anybody Seen The PO-PO's" on the XXX soundtrack as well work with Dub-C, Blackalicious, Keek Da Sneek any many others. Both Okwerdz and Young Collage will also be performing at the legendary Palladium in Modesto for the “Al Greenz Birthday” (KWIN’s leading DJ/personality) bash on October 1, 2005. “I am looking forward to having these artists perform at my party and am proud to be breaking these singles. KWIN is known for jumping on hot tracks first and this is definitely no exception. These are stand-out cuts, and I am proud to look out for such local talent when it as solid as this. I’m putting this on the map, for sure.” explains air personality Al Greenz. “I feel very strongly about these tracks and these artists,” explains Back Route CEO, James Bomb. It’s funny that I ended up with two Stockton-based artists because I really didn’t expect to find two MC’s of there caliber in my own town. You would never know unless it was pointed out due to the fact they have extremely different styles. The one thing I noticed that they do have in common is that they share undeniable superstar qualities that are as obvious as a slap in the face.”
