LOS ANGELES – Latin hip-hop superstar Bimbo is kicking off the release of his new Reggaeton album with a bombshell – by taking on the world’s most powerful political leaders in his highly-controversial new music video, The High Price of Oil, released this week by B&E Entertainment and Urban Box Office. Over the course of the satirical video, Bimbo ferociously ridicules Osama bin Laden, Saddam Hussein, Condoleeza Rice and even President George W. Bush.

The High Price of Oil is not only Bimbo’s first Reggaeton video, but also the first time any Reggaeton artist has ventured outside the conventions of the genre to make a blatantly political statement.

The High Price of Oil was made to accompany “Fuleteame El Tanque” (“Fill Up My Gas Tank”), the lead single off of Bimbo’s new CD, Bimbo Presenta: Reggaeton 100 x 35, which will be released August 23. In the video’s narrative, Bimbo portrays a hustler who “deals” gasoline as if it were contraband, creating an enormously successful “Bimbolina Gasolina Empire.” He sells the gas for outrageous sums of money which people scramble to pay – not as far-fetched as it may seem as world oil futures actually recently hit the record-high $68 mark on August 11, 2005.

The video, a euphoric mix of Reggaeton, hip-hop choreography and political satire, had to be shot in the Dominican Republic, as the subject matter proved too hot for any U.S. gas stations to agree to get involved.

In the final, most controversial scene in the video, Bimbo sticks cash in the garter belts of strippers wearing masks of Bush, Rice, bin Laden and Hussein, essentially paying them off for their roles in conspiring to keep the price of oil skyrocketing.

Bimbo has achieved his enormous success as an artist by his constant willingness to take chances. For his entry into Reggaeton, Bimbo uses his unmatched skills to create a playfully daring satire that will definitely shake up a frenzy on the dance floors, yet will also compel audiences around the world to stop and think, seeing the message behind the controversy.

Guaranteed to have people talking, Bimbo’s new video proves he is at the top of his game – as captivating, as provocative and as cunningly creative as he has ever been.
