Foxy Brown is one tough bia! According to various reports, the BK native appeared in a Manhattan Criminal Court on Monday (April 11) to plead not guilty to misdemeanor assault and attempted assault charges for an alleged scuffle at Bloomie Nails.
The rapper, whose real name is Inga Marchand, is apparently a regular at the salon, and last August she got into some trouble when her manicure/pedicure wasn't fulfilled.
MTV reports that, Foxy became angry during an August 27 visit when she was told the establishment was going to close before she received her manicure. When she got up to leave without paying, salon employees locked the door, the Times reported.
Foxy claims that they demanded payment for both services, and when she refused to pay for both, prosecutors claim she kicked and hit one of the managers, causing "bruising and swelling to the face, as well as substantial pain."
To make things worse, when the rapper finally got to her car, employees of Bloomie's tried to block her from leaving, prosecutors said the rapper hit one of the workers with her cell phone.
Joseph Tacopina, Foxy's lawyer, denied that his client had hit any of the workers, but did confirm that a struggle had taken place, according to the Times.
"Eventually, with all the screaming going on, they released her," Tacopina said, adding that the salon workers were attempting to take advantage of Foxy's celebrity and wealth.
When arriving to court, Foxy told reporters that she would not let the incident hold her back.
"A $20 pedicure? Are you serious?" Foxy said as she showed reporters her long white nails and designer outfit. "I've overcome adversity my entire life. I'm trying not to be deterred by any negativity."
Foxy Brown is currently working on her next album, which will be released on Def Jam Records.
