After recently reaching platinum, T.I.'s Urban Legend has sold over 500,000 Music Tones to Sprint PCS costumers.
With ringtones increasing in popularity, T.I.'s Urban Legend has struck gold through the Sprint Nationwide PCS Network. Some of the album's most popular Music Tones include, "ASAP," "Bring Em Out," "U Don't Know Me," "Motivation," "Get Loose" and "Freak Though" among others.
"No longer are artists just hitting gold and platinum sales milestones with songs and albums --now it's through wireless with master ringers," John Burris, Sprint Director of Wireless Data Services, said in a statement. "Through our direct relationships with the record labels we can deliver new and popular Music Tones to customers every day."
According to IDC forecasts, the ringtone industry is on pace to generate up to $1.4 billion; while three-quarters of a billion ringtones will be downloaded by 2008. In addition to thousands of Music Tones, Sprint also offers Urban Stylez; a Hip-Hop-inspired screen saver that features BlingPix like Homies, AND1, Kung Faux, Lugar Heights, Graffiti, Street Art and Latin Stylez. Sprint recently announced that several screen savers have gone gold on the enhanced Sprint Nationwide PCS Network.
