Australian immigration officials gave Eminem's rap crew D12 a bizarre offshore behaviour lesson before authorising their tour.

Immigration Department officials in Tokyo demanded access to the D12 show and outlined behaviour codes before allowing the hip hop group entry.

As D12 arrived in Perth yesterday, the incident drew angry fire from their tour manager and Australian promoter.

"The consulate was worried D12 would incite young Australians," tour promoter Arash Madden said yesterday.

"In one of the most bizarre incidents ever, they gave a lesson on what not to do in Australia. It was utterly ridiculous. We are back to the Dark Ages," Madden said.

D12 tour manager, Andre Thorpe, said immigration officials sought tickets to D12's Tokyo show last Wednesday.

"They wanted to see if our show was appropriate," Thorpe said.

Mr Thorpe said a female official interviewed D12 in the lobby of the Tokyo ANA Hotel.

"She asked questions, wanted birth dates . . . then she gave us a lecture on how to behave."

Asked how he handled his behaviour lesson, rapper Proof said: "All I do is stay humble. You've got two ears and one mouth. You've got to listen twice as much to talk."
