In an article in The Denver post; Bruce Hornsby talks about Tupac Shakur: his music, his positive message and the checks that Hornsby receives because of him.
“…if they remembered that he's the guy behind the piano lick in Tupac's "Changes."
Of course "The Way It Is," the title track of Hornsby's 1986 breakthrough debut, was the backing piano to Tupac's rhymes about overcoming social oppression. But while Hornsby's original went triple-platinum, Tupac's sold a bit better.
"I do love the checks," Hornsby said last week from Seattle. "(Tupac) was a 14-million seller, 9 in America and 5 internationally. And it's still rolling. But most importantly, I like what he did with it. It was a positive message."
