Contrary to published reports of Ol’ Dirty Bastard having 13 kids, the late rapper had seven – three with his wife Icelene Jones, and four out of wedlock. It was announced Monday by Dirt’s manager Jarred Weisfeld that all seven will receive a piece of his estate.
"We made him a promise, if or when he ever passes, all his seven children will be taken care of," Weisfeld said.
Weisfeld identified ODB's seven children as Barson, Taniqua, Shaquita, Osiris, Allah, God Ason and Ashana.
While relatives gathered Monday in Brooklyn to remember the eccentric M.C., a.k.a. Russell Jones, a private funeral is being planned for Thursday in Brooklyn, with a public memorial service to follow. An autopsy has reportedly been performed but results won’t be available for at least 10 days.
O.D.B. died without a will, according to Weisfeld, who believes that drugs were not the cause of the Wu Tanger’s death. Wesfield claims that the rapper turned his life around after his 2003 release from prison on a drug-possession conviction.
