A Norfolk concert promoter is suing rapper Snoop Dogg for five million dollars

A Virginia Beach sheriff served Snoop - who's real name is Calvin Broadus - with the suit while he was still on stage during a performance at the Virginia Beach Amphitheater Wednesday night.

While known worldwide by millions of fans, plaintiff Patricia Richardson says she got to know the rapper on a different level.

"I was put in a situation that I never should have been put into," Richardson said. "This is nothing about my character, not the type of activity I'm involved in, ever involved in or ever will be involved in."

Back in 1997, Richardson - a Norfolk-based promoter - put together a Snoop concert that took place in Petersburg, Virginia.

But on January 28th, the night of the show, Richardson says things went wrong.

"I was asked to pick up packages," she says. "As a concert promoter, and doing the duties and responsibilities of that particular position, then that's part of your responsibilities. You don't know what the packages were."

Richardson says she was acting on instructions from Broadus (Snoop) when she picked up two packages sent to the rapper.

According to a lawsuit, Richardson says when she went to deliver the goods, police searched, handcuffed and arrested her before taking her to the Petersburg police station.

In the lawsuit, Richardson says she learned the packages she was carrying contained approximately seven pounds of marijuana each, and that one or more of the packages were specifically addressed to Broadus (Snoop).

Richardson spent a few hours in custody for the incident.

"I just hate that I had to suffer for someone else, what other people did," says Richardson. "I don't think that's fair."

Richardson says the money in the suit is for pain and suffering she experienced.

Calls to contact  Snoop Dogg or his agent about this situation, were unsuccessful.
