Stan ‘Tookie’ Williams: does the name sound familiar?

His journey from a childhood in South Central Los Angeles, to his co-founding of the Crips youth gang as a teenager, to his redemption over the past 23 years incarcerated on San Quentin's death row, is now a book and a movie. The movie ‘"Redemption: The Stan ‘Tookie’ Williams Story" starring Jamie Foxx, was presented at the Cannes Film Festival on May 18, 2004, and received a standing ovation.

The DVD and video will be available in August 2004. But his book and his web site are available now and I found his web site to be a wealth of information and intelligence.

Any parent, concerned community member, politician – really anyone wanting to know what can be done about the street violence we are all seeing should look at this site.

http://www.tookie.com/  is a wealth of information provided by Stan Williams.

From learning of his nomination for a Nobel Prize for Peace and Literature, the movie "Redemption", to how All of Tookie's proceeds from the sale of this book will be invested in programs to assist at-risk children. He will receive none of the books' revenues; this site is truly one to visit.

The book ‘Blue Rage, Black Redemption’ the autobiography of Stanley "Tookie" Williams can be ordered there.

The site is filled with great reading. From the ‘Protocol for Peace’; (The Tookie Protocol for Peace is a process for initiating street peace, block by block, neighborhood by neighborhood, city by city. Tookie wrote this document to engage community leaders and gang members in the peace process. It is a series of procedures -- a "protocol" -- designed to bring an end to gang violence around the world, and to begin to heal the damage in communities caused by years of youth gang warfare.), to his letters to Incarcerated Youth this site will amaze you – if you approach it with an open mind; on willing to listen and learn.

The autobiography is available on the site, the DVD and video is coming in August for the movie
