It was just over three years ago that Lil Kim found herself dodging bullets outside of a New York City radio station. She was able to get away without getting hurt but now the incident has resurfaced in the form of a surrender.
The 28-year-old, whose real name is Kimberly Jones, is among five people indicted by a Manhattan grand jury. She and two other people are expected to turn themselves in as early as today. Two others are already in jail.
Lil Kim faces charges of perjury for allegedly lying to investigators about the February 2001 shooting outside Hot 97 Radio in the Village.
Investigators say a feud between Lil Kim and rival hip-hopper Foxy Brown sparked the fight. Police say Lil Kim had just finished an interview at the station when members of the two camps crossed paths. One person was injured.
Authorities believe the gunman drove back to Kim's home and got rid of the weapons. Lil Kim allegedly told investigators she did not know what led to the gun battle.
On Monday, investigators searched Lil Kim's midtown office. Sources say that is when lawyers for the rapper reached a deal with prosecutors, allowing her to surrender.
The indictment stems from ongoing FBI investigations into crimes related to the rap industry.
