The Conservative Citizen Re-Election Committee… Is proud to announce The 2004 Presidential Rap Remix Contest.
As the 2004 election season kicks into full gear, there is a high premium being placed on undecided swing voters and those who traditionally vote in low numbers. One of the most coveted audiences is the so called ‘Hip Hop Generation’ which can be best described as the new millennium’s ‘Generation X’
It is no secret that Rap Music is the definitive sound track for today’s generation. There have also been a number of studies that clearly demonstrate that Rap Music is one of the most powerful mediums capable of influencing behavior.
According to CCRC Founder George Stovall; “We have discovered that Rap Music is responsible for young people dressing a certain way, speaking a certain way and being socialized a certain way. Sales of certain designer clothing have increased by a third because they were mentioned in a rap song. Hence the same type of influence should apply if we connect Rap Music to political thought and ideology.”.
Stovall continued; “It is the goal of our organization to move today’s wayward generation away from gang violence and immoral sexual behavior which numerous studies have shown are often associated with Rap Music. There is a tendency for popular rappers like Eminem, Jay-Z and Ja Rule to over indulge themselves with such negative subject matter, which in turn inspires an entire generation to travel down the wrong path. We have the over marketing and over rewarding of detrimental behavior. We hope to change this by encouraging and handsomely rewarding ‘positive‘, socially acceptable Rap Music. One way to do this is to hold a nation wide Rap contest”.
The Conservative Citizen Re-Election Committee is sponsoring a Rap Music Contest that is open to anyone who lives in the United States. Contestants are encouraged to rewrite or Remix popular rap songs and replace the lyrics with their own raps extolling the positive virtues of President Bush and his policies or highlighting conservative themes and issues.
Stovall explained that rappers can center their songs on any number of themes ranging from themes ‘Bush’s Bold Fearless Fight Against Terrorism’ to ‘How The Patriot Act Protects Us’ to ‘How the US Defeated Saddam’
10 Win[/u] will be selected and be given a cash prize of 25 thousand dollars, a brand new Hummer and a case of Hennessy. They will also be put on a six month tour where they get to travel the world to all of the US’s military bases and perform for the troops.
Those ten winning songs will be put on a Hip Hop compilation album which we will release around the time of the national convention in New York City. In keeping with the overall ‘Remix’ theme of the contest the compilation album is tentatively being called ’George Bush The Ruler’ which is a play upon the landmark album by legendary rapper Slick Rick called ‘Slick Rick The Ruler’
“In many ways our President personifies the bold and forthright attitude found throughout Rap Music and Hip Hop”, Stovall noted. “He is in your face, does not back down in the face of danger and is brutally honest. George Bush is in many ways the country’s first Hip Hop President. He more than any other politician embodies the Hip Hop spirit being strong and innovative. He wants to encourage today’s Hip Hop Generation to remain steadfast and brave in these turbulent times”.
Stovall wrapped up his remarks by taking a swipe at Bush’s main Democratic opponent Senator John Kerry; “I noticed that the good Senator from Massachusetts appeared on MTV the other day and patronized the Hip Hop Generation by saying he is ‘fascinated by rap’. Isn’t it rather strange that Senator Kerry has not allowed any of those rappers he’s fascinated by to appear in one of his TV ads or even on stage with him?
Stovall concluded; “ While the good Senator is merely fascinated we are paying these talented artists and helping them be entrepreneurs. We are putting them in a brand new Hummer which symbolizes strength and we are giving them a case of Hennessy which represents prosperity and is the preferred drink by today’s rappers. In short we aren‘t going to simply talk the talk. We are walking the walk and making sure that this generation of Rap Music lovers ‘Gets Paid In Full.’ Remember Knowledge is Power!”.
