With his 2002 release, Electric Circus, being such a futuristic, retro-rock style album, Common is planning to come back home with his next effort.

Where Electric Circus was such an unconventional hip-hop album, he is working to Be more grounded on his sixth album titled Be, according to a report from MTV.

"This one feels grounded, like hanging out on someone's Chicago sidewalk," Common said recently to MTV. "After going way out, it's a natural progression for me to come home again. It's more about people and things relative to life."

According to MTV's report, Common is halfway through with this new LP. He has already recorded with the likes of Jay Dee, Kareem Riggins (Slum Village), and Kanye West amongst others.

Since Kanye and Common are both from Chicago, it was only natural for them to hook up. Now Kanye's status has increased by alot since Common first met him. When they both were aspiring rappers, they both used to rap in Common's basement.

"Put it this way: I didn't underestimate him. But I didn't know it'd get like this," Common said of Kanye's sudden popularity. "There's no limitations to him. I love his vision. He brings something fun, innocent and creative to hip-hop. I forgot hip-hop could be like that."

Other producers Common is set to get into the studio with are Neptunes and ?uestlove.

He hopes the fans wil feel the love in his new efforts, regardless if it's not like an Electric Circus.

"It's more of what people expect hip-hop to be," Common explained to MTV. "I gave them a space movie with Electric Circus. Now the movie is more about something blue-collar you can relate to. I hope they do."
