Steve Gottlieb is ending a tumultuous year on a high note.
Gottlieb's record label, TVT Records, currently owns all top-five slots on Billboard's indie label chart.
It's the second time in history that's happened - the first was two weeks ago when TVT also claimed the top-five albums on the chart.
The hit records include releases from Lil Jon & The EastSide Boyz, The Ying Yang Twins and Dashboard Confessional.
But that's not all: For the first time, Gottlieb was recently named one of the 30 most powerful people in hip-hop by The Source magazine.
"As the largest independently-owned and freestanding record label in the United States, TVT treats the industry rat race like a marathon, not a sprint," The Source wrote.
For much of the year, TVT made headlines because it was embroiled in a highly publicized lawsuit against Universal Music's Island Def Jam label.
TVT had argued that IDJ reneged on a recording project featuring rap star Ja Rule - who is currently signed to IDJ's The Inc. label.
Ja Rule's previous group was Cash Money Click, which was signed to TVT.
TVT initially won a $132 million judgment against IDJ, but a judge later reduced the damages to $53 million, and IDJ is expected to appeal the verdict.
TVT was also the subject of a slam piece in The New York Times that suggested TVT was on the brink of insolvency.
The Times was later forced to produce a 2,100 word correction.
Finally, TVT's Manhattan offices were burglarized and the thief made off with Gottlieb's laptop.
