Trick Daddy will go to trial in December on drug possession, assault and weapons charges and will remain under house arrest until then, a judge has ruled.
Trick Daddy, whose real name in Maurice Young, was arraigned before Judge Dennis Murphy stemming from two arrests earlier this year. His trial was set for Dec. 15.
The rapper faces assault and weapons charges stemming from a February dispute. He was placed under house arrest after he allegedly violated his bond conditions from that arrest. He was arrested again last month after officers allegedly found cocaine and marijuana hidden in his shirt pocket.
Murphy has allowed Young to leave his house to perform at several concerts. On Monday, Young attended The Source Hip-Hop Music Awards in Miami after getting permission from the court.
Assistant State Attorney Stacey Glick complained Wednesday that Murphy has been lenient with Young. She wants him only to be allowed to leave home for paying jobs, not to go to awards shows. Murphy disagreed.
Young denies the allegations. Young's attorney, Jay White, said his client is ready to go to trial to prove his innocence.
