Don't look for Vin Diesel when the follow-up to XXX hits theaters in 2005.
The thickly muscled actor and director Rob Cohen have opted out of the sequel to the 2002 flick about an extreme athlete turned secret agent, prompting Revolution Studios to pick Ice Cube and Die Another Day director Lee Tamahori to do the honors. Shooting starts next summer.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Revolution says the plan is to introduce a new XXX character in each film.
Ice Cube has been seen, minus the Diesel-esque tattoos and bulk, in Barbershop and the Friday series of comedy films. Tamahori also directed Along Came a Spider and Mulholland Falls.
