Bow Wow's latest album, Unleashed, has been certified gold by the RIAA as of September 25, 2003, a month after the album's release in late August.
Unleashed debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 best-selling albums chart the week of its release and joins Bow Wow's previous two full-length releases -- 2000's Beware of Dog and 2001's Doggy Bag -- in achieving RIAA gold status.
News of Bow Wow's latest sales success comes as the hip-hop icon finishes wrapping production on his new film, "Johnson Family Vacation," a comedy starring Bow Wow, Cedric the Entertainer, Vanessa Williams, and Columbia Records labelmate Solange Knowles. "Johnson Family Vacation" is slated to open nationwide in April 2004.
Much in-demand for his thespian skills, Bow Wow recently inked a deal to star in "Mr. Prez," a Will Smith-Overbrook Entertainment film currently in pre-production. Bow Wow is scheduled to begin filming his still-unnamed WB Network sitcom beginning in November 2003.
In addition to best-selling recording artist and rising young movie star, Bow Wow has added "entrepreneur" to his résumé with his own clothing line, Shago. Launched in June 2003, Shago has been listed for the past two months as one of the top three best-selling clothing lines for Federated Department Stores, Inc., the parent company of Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Burdines, Rich's, and others. Shago's holiday line will hit stores on November 1. Shago clothing may be purchased online at: www.shagoclothing.com.
