Atlanta-based duo OutKast took a chance with their fifth studio album, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, by recording two solo sets and packaging them as one release. The gamble paid off as the duo landed at Number One on the Billboard 200 albums chart for the first time in their career. Speakerboxxx/The Love Below sold more than 509,000 copies in its first week according to Nielsen Soundscan to land at Number One.
OutKast was one of five urban acts that landed in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 albums chart. R&B superstar R. Kelly's greatest-hits set, R. In R&B Collection, Vol. 1 sold 250,000 copies to grab the Number Four spot. Eminem's latest find Obie Trice sold 225,000 copies of his debut, Cheers, to land at Number Five, and Murphy Lee of the St. Lunatics' debut set, Murphy's Law, sold an impressive 134,000 copies to land at Number Eight.
Rap veteran DMX's latest release, Grand Champ, managed to stay in the Top 10 after debuting at Number One last week. The set is Number Seven this week after selling another 150,000 copies.
