In the State of Kentucky, Governor Paul Patton has proclaimed September 16 Nappy Roots Day during a ceremony held in 2002.
This year Nappy Roots has partnered with 100 Black Men of Louisville, a charitable organization that emphasizes education and reaching out to at risk youth, to perform a FREE show for the people of Kentucky. The show will take place on Tuesday, September 16th at The University of Louisville's Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
University of Louisville Cheer and Dance will open for Nappy Roots and Derek Anderson of the Portland Trailblazers will make a short appearance before the performance.
Nappy Roots have been promoting their newest release, "Wooden Leather", which is in stores now. The single off the album, "Roun the Globe" has been getting a great response. The album received four and a half mics in The Source.
The group will be doing a run through the South East to promote the new album and also filming a new video for the second single off the album, "Wooden Leather". There will be two performances that are listed below.
