Oakland’s Own DJ Vlad to be Feat. On B.E.T.’s Rap City
“The West Coast Mixtape King Breaks Bread with Big Tig”
August 20th, Oakland, CA- DJ Vlad, known globally as “The West Coast Mixtape King” will be featured on B.E.T.’s “Rap City” Thursday the 21st and Friday the 22nd at 4 pm est. This show has had many popular DJ’s such as DJ Green Lantern (Eminem’s DJ), Dirty Harry, Paul Bunyon and many others.
Shortly after touching down from a six city tour of Australia, he headed to the world famous “Rap City”. When asked what it was like to be on the set of one of America’s hottest video shows he stated “It was somewhat overwhelming. Hanging out in the Bassment set, with all the posters and autographs was incredible. Just knowing that 1.5 million people are going to be watching this, it makes my stomach do back flips. This was definitely the biggest single piece of exposure that I got to date, and it makes me feel that my place in hip-hop is that much more cememented - like I just graduated another grade in my Hip-Hop university.”
“Big Tigger was real, real cool. During the show, I found out he was Jamaican, so we ended up connecting on the fact that I DJ'd for Barrington Levy. He had a real easy going character, and a lot of the show was us adlibbing back and forth with each other. I made it a point to say that I was from the West-Coast, so we had some talks about upcoming west coast acts.”
When asked what’s next for DJ Vlad, he says “I'm gonna continue to tour. I just got back from doing tours in Japan and Australia, and intend to keep it moving to places like Europe. Preparing for 2PAc: Rap Phenomenon Part 2 mixtape with Green Lantern and Dirty Harry.
