Outkast were their usual cool and sophisticated selves Monday on the set of Big Boi's new video, except when asked about the concept of the clip. Then they could only speak in adjectives and, well, names of drugs. "Abstract artsy fartsy ghetto classy sophisticated psyched-out mushrooms acid crack rock cocaine," Big Boi answered in his southern drawl.

"Women, speakers and boxes," added Andre 3000, on hand for his cameo in the video. Actually, there is a sort of storyline to the "I Like the Way You Move" clip that can be explained in actual sentences. It opens in a garage specializing in audio systems (a reference to Big Boi's solo album title, Speakerboxxx), where Big Boi and Sleepy Brown pull up to find only scantily clad ladies working.

Like a movie musical, their movements — each turn of a wrench and ignition of a torch — are to the beat of the music. The room is uncharacteristically dull for an Outkast video, that is, until the "mechanics" scrub their hands with special soap and everyone is transported into a colorful world where stylish suits, lavish parties and fly dancing are a must.

Bryan Barber, who has helmed several Outkast videos, including "The Whole World," directed Big Boi's video, as well as Dre's for "Hey Ya!," which was shot last week. The songs will be released simultaneously in support of Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, the double CD set featuring solos albums from each rapper, due September 23.

Big Boi and Dre were going to shoot videos for "Ghetto Musick" and "She Lives in My Lap," respectively, but those will now be filmed later in the fall in conjunction with an Outkast movie musical for HBO directed by Barber.

"We wanted to wait till after the movie was shot and the videos would come out closer to the movie so it wouldn't be like, five or six months before the movie came out and people be like, 'Yeah, that's nice imagery, but OK, we don't understand it,' " Dre explained.

Outkast would not get into detail about the plot of the movie, but Dre said it will star Rosario Dawson, who sings on "She Lives in My Lap," and feature other songs from their solo albums.

In selecting new first singles, Big Boi and Dre wanted to choose songs that complemented each other. Both are up-tempo, but "I Like the Way You Move" is more R&B and Prince-influenced, while "Hey Ya!" has a Hiphop hoedown flavor similar to "Rosa Parks."

"It's like the songs really just show two totally diverse points of what Outkast is about, the wide spectrum of music that we really deal with," Big Boi said.

As for the "Hey Ya!" video, its beginning and ending will blend with "I Like the Way You Move" so fans can watch both in a row no matter which one is first, although the story line is quite different.

"The 'Hey Ya!' concept is pretty much a band and it's their first time out of the country playing in London and the name of the band is called the Love Below, which is the name of my side of the album," Dre explained, forgetting to mention the important detail that he plays all four members in the Beatles-like group.

Lyrically, "I Like the Way You Move" is more of a basic party starter, while "Hey Ya!" is about one of Dre's unique perspectives on dating.

" 'Hey Ya!' is pretty much about the state of relationships in the 2000's," the flamboyant rapper explained. "It's about some people who stay together in relationships because of tradition, because somebody told them, 'You guys are supposed to stay together.' But you pretty much end up being unhappy for the rest of your life.

"So 'Hey Ya!' is really about saying, 'Fuck it. Live life, you know,' " he added, before throwing out the chorus. " 'Don't want to meet your mama, just wanna make you coma/ Don't want to meet your daddy, just want you in my Cadi.' " Source: MTV
