A memorial has been commissioned in the city of La Ceiba, Honduras in honor of the late Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes of TLC, who was killed in an automobile accident in Honduras in April of 2002.
Honduran president Ricardo Maduro; the Lopes family; AOL Time Warner VP of Group Communications, Fernando Figueredo; U.S. ambassador to Honduras, Larry Palmer; and mayor of La Ceiba Gonzalo Rivera will unveil the freestanding monument on May 27 which will be placed on the 84 acres of land Lopes purchased shortly before her death.
Lopes frequently visited Honduras to unwind during breaks. The rapper often volunteered at a children's center and at the Usha Herbal Resource Institute. Lopes was looking forward to developing a Health Spa with the local Garifuna people at the time of her death.
