According to BET Snoop Dogg is being sued by the man whose voice can be heard on an answer machine message which appear's on Snoop's most recent album, "Paid Tha Cost To Be Da Bo$$." Yesterday, a Los Angeles man filed a lawsuit under the name "John Doe" against the rapper for using his voice on the track which disses Death Row CEO Suge Knight. The song, "Pimp Slapp'd," features a one-minute answering machine message from the man who appears to support Snoop, however not necessarily showing dislike for Suge Knight. "John Doe" claims that that his message is intertwined into the song where Snoop declares that Knight, his former boss, is a "bitch." He alleged that he has received "threats from unknown third parties" following the release of the album and requests to have the 'skit' removed have been ignored.
The civil suit also names Priority Records, DoggyStyle Records, and Capitol Records, all of who were involved in the creation and release of the song. The man says that his inclusion on the track has been seen as taking a position against Knight and the complaint is said to state that : "it is so real that plaintiff now fears for his life and that of his elderly mother because it appears that he, as a Compton resident, is supporting [Snoop Dogg] in the turf war [with Suge Knight]."
The lawsuit claims "intentional infliction of emotional distress and voice appropriation," seeks damages and to have the message removed from future copies of the album.
