Ja Rule has been embroiled in an ongoing feud with fellow rapper 50 Cent for several years. The feud turned violent in 2000 when members of Ja Rule's entourage allegedly stabbed 50 Cent at the Hit Factory recording studio in New York.

50 Cent maintains that the wound was simply a cut and blown out of proportion. Since the incident, 50 Cent has attacked Ja Rule several times in song while various members of Murder Inc. Records, including Caddillac Tah and Blackchild, have penned responses.

Ja Rule recently told "LAUNCH" that he felt that the media was fanning the flames of controversy and perpetuating the tension between him and 50 Cent. "You know, outside of, you know, homeboy making his records or whatever, there's really been no talk from me about it or any records made by me about it," Ja Rule said. "It's been all media hype. All the stations, they always want to ask me about it. They always want to ask him about it. They always want to prolong it instead of just letting it die, and now the kids are involved. You got the kids running around, 'I'm down with Murder Inc.!' 'I'm down with these niggas!'"

Ja Rule continued, "We seen it before. We seen it with B.I.G. and Pac. We seen it influence a whole coastal war, and it wasn't them two men that did it. It was the media, you understand? We don't have the power to do that. We have big voices, yeah, yeah, yeah, and all that, yeah, but we don't have the power to pump it everyday in the press and to put it on the Internet where the kids go online all day and that's all they see. We don't have that power."

50 Cent also seemed ready to put the beef to rest, but the rapper sounded like he would like to go a round or two first with Ja Rule and Murder Inc. Records CEO Irv Gotti. 50 Cent shared his thoughts in a recent interview with XXL magazine, saying, "Now Ja--me and him have differences. He makes records that are good enough to sell some records. The only reason that I'd speak about him on a record is because he's an artist--a pop artist. I would personally whoop his ass if he'd like, we could squash this right now and go out back and shoot a fair one. Maybe Irv can come back, too. I'll whip the skin off Irv."
