Aftermath/Shady Records recording artist 50 Cent told BET that he often finds himself being compared to both the late Tupac Shakur & The Notorious B.I.G. for various reasons, but said he is far from ready for such honors : "Those comparisons are scary. Tupac is a legend. When they [speak on], my momentum in the city, they compare me to Biggie because of the attention I get. When they make comparisons to Tupac, it's because I've been shot. He's been shot so you [expect that]. I think both of those shoes are too big for me to walk in."

Another comparison to Tupac is 50 Cent's incredible work-rate especially on the mixtape circuit. 50 did insist though that the work is simply for promotion and that he receives no money or royalties for the music. He continued by saying that he hopes that his Aftermath/Shady Records debut album titled, "Get Rich or Die Tryin'", will further distance him from steady comparisons the hip-hop giants : "I'm just trying to do what I can do to make my own impression on people. And hopefully when I'm not here, they'll feel like the impression that I made was too big for someone to be afraid of that comparison."
Speaking on his recent alignment with hip-hop giants Dr. Dre & Eminem, in a $1million deal, he said that there was an ironic twist to the recording of his first song with Dr Dre : "In Da Club," [his first single] is the very first song I recorded with Dr. Dre and Eminem's first record with Dre was "My Name Is," It's weird that the very first records we recorded with Dre ended up being the first singles off both of our first albums, so I'm excited about the response."
